Steel used in the Civivi HID knife
The head is made of 14C28N steel developed by the Swedish Sandvik steel mills as a modern development in knife steels. Thanks to its chemical composition, it offers exceptional quality, durability and corrosion resistance. Reduced carbon content (0.62%), increased chromium level (14.0%) and nitrogen addition (0.11%) provide higher corrosion protection. Considered an improved version of 13C26 steel, it also stands out for its great price/quality ratio.
The locking mechanism used in the Civivi HID
The knife uses a nested liner-lock, in which the steel locking line is embedded inside the handle, usually made of composite materials such as G10 or carbon fiber. This solution makes the mechanism less conspicuous, giving the knife a more aesthetically pleasing and sleeker look, while also providing secure locking of the blade.
G10 composite liners
The HID knife's liners are made of G10 composite, which features exceptional resistance to weather, chemicals and mechanical damage. The aggressive surface texture provides a secure and comfortable grip. The open design also reduces the weight of the knife and makes it easier to clean.
