The Leupold 5HD 2-10 × 30 mm is an advanced optical sight, an evolution of the traditional military optics used on MK12 SPR riflescopes. An uncompromising combination of durability, Leupold's legendary Professional-Grade Optical System and reliability, it allows precise identification of distant targets, as well as dynamic short-range shooting, enabling the shooter to effectively take on the challenges of the modern battlefield.
The scope has a 35mm diameter aluminum (6061-T6) tube, which provides a large range of sight reticle adjustment of 48/23 MIL vertically and horizontally. On the eyepiece there is a mothballed ring with an enlarged lever used for quick and zoom changes, thus enabling instant changes in magnification parameters depending on the situation and distance to the target. The tube of the scope is filled with a patented mixture of gases (argon and krypton), which eliminates the effects of thermal shock, reduces the diffusion of gases inside the scope and completely eliminates the problem of internal lens evaporation. The waterproofing technology used guarantees 100% weather resistance, so it can be used regardless of the weather. The scope underwent rigorous testing on the Punisher simulation machine, during which the scopes were subjected to 5,000 recoil-induced overload tests. The test machine generates shocks with an energy 3× the recoil of a .308 rifle.
The side parallax knob allows smooth compensation of parallax error (point-of-view error affecting the aiming point) by taking the sight away from the target. The ZeroLock mechanism physically locks the dial, preventing it from rotating until the lock button is pressed. The ZeroLock button also acts as an indicator of the number of rotations, providing visual as well as tactile orientation of the applied changes. During the first rotation, the button protrudes from the dial. On the second full revolution, the button aligns with the dial. On the other hand, at the third revolution, the button hides inside the dial, which is indicated by a protruding pin on the cover of the drum disc. The indicators used are perfectly visible and can be felt even in the dark.

The Leupold Mark 5HD 2-10 × 30 35 mm M5C3 FFP TMR riflescope uses the Tremor FFP tactical sighting reticle, an improved version of the popular Mil-Dot crosshair. The Tremor target reticle in the foreground changes its size as the image is magnified so that the distance to the target can be estimated more precisely, making the FPP (foreground) target crosshairs used by soldiers and long-distance shooters. The Tremor military reticle has scales graduated in Milliradians, and uses vertical and horizontal graduations instead of dots, which increases the precision of applying windage and fallout corrections. The thin arms of the crosshair do not restrict the field of view, so they allow the shooter to observe the target comfortably and maintain high situational awareness.
