PWS MK-116 Compound is a precise, reliable and technologically advanced American carbine, adapted to 5.56 x 45 mm/.223 Remington ammunition, which will allow you to achieve even better results thanks to its unique technological solutions. A feature unique to this carbine is the use of a gas system that does not rely on direct gas action on the slide or short-stroke piston, but on a long-stroke gas piston design - identical to that of an AK carbine. This makes the weapon definitely cleaner, more pleasant to work with and reduces the number of moving parts. The model shown has a barrel length of 16 inches.
Features of the PWS MK-116 Compound 16" carbine:
- It is equipped with a Wylde-type breech chamber: allows the use of both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO ammunition.
- Exceptional durability: thanks to precision-machined alumunium components (breech chamber and trigger).
- Stable platform - reliability even under intensive use.
- Smooth operation of the mechanism even in intensive shooting thanks to the long-stroke piston.
- Thread pitch of 1:8 provides excellent accuracy for bullets weighing from 55 gr to 77 gr.

Wylde-type chamber in the PWS MK-116 carbine.
If you are looking for a carbine that combines high precision and reliability, the PWS Compound will be your new benchmark. It is a weapon created for those who do not recognize compromise - professionals, sport shooters and enthusiasts of modern AR designs. Equipped with a breech chamber created by Bill Wylde, the PWS carbine allows the safe use of .223 Rem and 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition.
A unique hybrid that is a combination of MOD 1-M and MOD 2-M versions
The PWS MK-116 Compound is a combination of the MOD 1-M upper body and MOD 2-M lower body, resulting in a synergy of two approaches to carbine construction: classic and modern. The upper body has been optimized for functionality and gas efficiency, while the lower body offers ergonomics and a classic layout in line with the AR-15 platform.
Operating principle based on the long stroke of the gas piston
The PWS MK-116 Compound is based on discharging some of the gunpowder gases through a side opening in the barrel. Then the powder gases, act on the long-stroke piston, which is permanently connected to the slide assembly and the breech, unlocking it. The weapon is cocked by rotating the breech with 6 symmetrical bolts. The breech and trigger chamber, standard for AR-15 platform-based carbines, is made of milled aluminum covered with a durable protective coating. The presence of a gas regulator is also an important feature, allowing the weapon to be adapted to a suppressor/ammunition.
Precision gas regulator in the weapon
The MK-116 Compound offers a 3-position gas regulator system that allows you to adjust the weapon's action to your needs. Whether you are using a suppressor, shooting subsonic ammunition, or training at full power, you will have full control over the weapon's behavior.
- Position 1 - maximum amount of gas (ideal for low-quality ammunition and with dirty weapons).
- Position 2 - standard mode with a universal spectrum of use.
- Position 3 - suppressor mode (reduced back pressure and smoother duty cycle).
The barrel of the PWS MK-116 carbine
The carbine is equipped with a 16" (40.64 cm) long barrel, which allows safe and accurate shooting with both .223 Rem and 5.56x45 mm NATO ammunition. Thanks to the 1:8 thread pitch, the carbine perfectly stabilizes a wide range of available ammunition.
