Principle of operation of the carbine
The AR-15 Son of Gun platform is based on an improved gas system, using a short-stroke gas piston. It uses gunpowder gases that, entering through a hole in the barrel, act on a gas piston located above the barrel. This element is connected to a pusher, which directly acts on the slide, activating the weapon's automatics and causing it to reload. The advantage of this solution is the increased cleanliness of the interior of the breech chamber and the moving assembly. The weapon is bolted by rotating the breech face with 6 symmetrical bolts. The breech and trigger chamber, standard for AR-15 carbines, is made of milled aluminum covered with a durable coating created by the anodizing process.
Precision and self-supporting barrel
The SOG AR-15 is equipped with a 10.5-inch barrel, which will allow extremely efficient maneuvering in confined spaces. The surface of the barrel has been subjected to the process of nitriding, for protection against harmful factors - first of all, the corrosive effect of gases formed during the combustion of gunpowder. At the end of the barrel there is a multifunctional discharge device.
The front bed is equipped with the M-LOK attachment system
The carbine uses a hexagonal front bed with angles at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock and M-LOK standard holes.
