Operating principle of the Mossberg 940 shotgun
The automatics of the self-repeating rifle is based on a short-stroke gas piston located under the barrel. After each shot is fired, the gunpowder gases acting on the front of the piston rod cause it to retract and thus move the slide to the rear, unlocking the lock. The locking process itself is carried out by means of the rotation of the breech with symmetrical bol ts corresponding to the notches in the barrel. Such a solution allows the use of even powerful ammunition.
Tubular magazine with a capacity of 7 cartridges
The weapon has a sub-luxury magazine of the tubular type. It is loaded through a window located at the bottom of the breech chamber. It has a capacity of 7 cartridges of 12/76 caliber plus 1 loaded directly into the cartridge chamber.
Safeties and manipulators
The Mossberg shotgun has a manual slide safety located at the rear of the breech chamber. It can be easily operated by the shooter using his thumb and without taking his hand off the grip.
Targeting Instruments
The rifle is factory-equipped with a single fiber-optic musket. What's more, an Optics Ready mounting plate has been nanosized on the breech chamber , allowing the installation of a small collimator.
