Operating principle of the Mossberg 590 A-1 SPX shotgun
The operation of the Pump-Action shotgun is based on a simple solution. The shooter, after firing each shot, must manually reload the weapon with the help of a movable shuttle. Locking is carried out through a swinging bolt, which cooperates with a special notch on the extension of the barrel's cartridge chamber.

The weapon has a sub barrel tubular type magazine. Loading is done through a window located at the bottom of the breech chamber. It has a capacity of 8 cartridges of 12/76 caliber plus 1 loaded directly into the cartridge chamber.
Safeties and manipulators
