TheOptima by Hatsan 90 STG Vortex 5.5mm is a powerful spring-loaded carbine, featuring an ergonomic polymer stock,Vortex gas spring, Quattro adjustable trigger mechanism and SAS recoil reduction system.
Manufactured by Turkish arms manufacturer Hatsan, the airguns have been popular among Polish sport shooters for years thanks to the capabilities they provide within their price range. The Optima by Hatsan brand offers the same excellent cost-to-quality ratio, which is a direct result of the solutions used in the manufacturing process. The manufacturer's tremendous capabilities allow it to manufacture every part in a single factory, so the windguns are made from scratch under the watchful eye of Hatsan specialists.
Ergonomic bed
The carbine's stock is made of durable polymer, which is resistant to mechanical damage, weather conditions and moisture. Maintenance and cleaning of the plastic bed is limited only to general cleanliness and occasional use of silicone oil.
TheMonte Carlo-type symmetrical buttstock allows right- and left-handed shooters to comfortably assemble for shooting and use higher-mounted optics. Post-shot recoil is effectively absorbed thanks to a soft rubber foot, also providing a stable point of support. Fine mottling was applied to the pistol grip and the front of the bed, which improves hand grip and enhances the aesthetic qualities of the carbine. Due to its size and weight, the carbine is intended for adult and experienced users.
Classic loading
Thespring is tensioned by classic "barrel break", a method most often used in spring-loaded air rifles due to its convenient and simple operation. The Optima by Hatsan 90 STG Vortex 5.5mm shoots diabolo shot in 5.5mm caliber, loaded directly into the barrel. The polymer dummy suppressor with non-slip milling significantly eases barrel breakage and spring tension, most noticeable during long shooting. The spring has an Anti Bear-Trap safety, which protects it from uncontrolled release during tensioning.
Precision and long range
The 450mm long threaded barrel is responsible for the accuracy and repeatability of the shots, thanks to which we can achieve repeatable focus after just a short training session. The fired shotgun reaches a high initial velocity of about 245 m/s (~16 J), thanks to which we can also shoot accurately from the carbine at longer distances. The enlarged compression chamber allows us to carry out self-tuning, thanks to which we can increase the initial velocity of the shotgun.
Vortex gas spring
The carbine uses an advanced Vortex gas spring system, responsible for high operating culture, reduced recoil and better accuracy. This system is based on a pneumatic cylinder that compresses the gas mixture in the cylinder instead of compressing the steel spring.
When the trigger is pressed, the compressed gas sets the piston in motion, which responds by compressing the air and firing the shotgun. This system ensures a stable initial velocity of the shotgun and a much longer life of the pneumatic system compared to the standard piston-spring system. The effect most noticeable to the shooter, is less recoil and weight of the carbine, reduction of vibration and firing noise, and less effort to pull the barrel.
Thanks to such properties, the Optima by Hatsan 90 STG Vortex 5.5mm carbine stands out for its smooth and comfortable operation, above-average precision and high operating culture.
Advantages of the Vortex Gas Piston system:
- reduced vibration,
- easier charging cycle,
- higher precision of shots,
- equalized initial velocity of each shot,
- longer life of the pneumatic system,
- high efficiency at low temperatures,
- reduced weight of the carbine.
SAS recoil reduction system
The carbine uses the patented SAS (Shock Absorber System) mechanism, which absorbs a significant part of the energy that accompanies the firing of the windgun. The SAS system increases the comfort of use, extends the life of the internal mechanisms and protects the optics from shocks.
Adjustable Quattro Trigger mechanism
One of the most important elements of a weapon affecting its accuracy is, of course, the trigger mechanism. In the Optima by Hatsan 90 STG Vortex 5.5mm model, the manufacturer used a two-stage Quattro Trigger match trigger, allowing the shooter to individually adjust the length of the initial path and resistance. The wide range of adjustment increases control over the shot, affects accuracy and shooting comfort.
Automatic safety
In shooting, the most important thing is safety, so when the spring is stretched ("breaking the barrel"), the fuse is automatically activated, which prevents the firing of an uncontrolled shot. Before firing, you should always turn off the safety, which is conveniently located in the rear of the piston chamber. This affects the extremely easy unlocking of the carbine, which can be done even without interfering with the aiming process.
Fiber-optic sighting instruments
The carbine has been equipped with good quality fiber-optic targeting instruments, i.e. a fixed bow tie and a vertically and horizontally adjustable sights. The fiber-optic rods with contrasting (green-red) colors, significantly speed up the alignment of the bow tie and the pincer, and thanks to high light absorption, also allow shooting in low or residual light, for example, after dark. If you want to try your hand at shooting at longer distances, you can also mount an optical sight of your choice on the 11mm rail. The rail has holes for a stop pin, eliminating the "loss of zero" problem.
