TheOptima by Hatsan 125 STG Sport Vortex 4.5mm is a powerful spring-loaded carbine, featuring a variable-length polymer stock, an automatic safety and a smooth-tuning Vortex gas spring.
Manufactured by Turkish arms manufacturer Hatsan, the airguns have been popular among Polish sport shooters for years thanks to the capabilities they provide within their price range. The Optima by Hatsan brand offers the same excellent cost-to-quality ratio, which is a direct result of the solutions used in the manufacturing process. The manufacturer's tremendous capabilities allow it to manufacture every part in a single factory, so the windguns are made from scratch under the watchful eye of Hatsan specialists.
Ergonomic bed
The carbine's stock is made of durable polymer, which is resistant to mechanical damage, weather conditions and moisture. Maintenance and cleaning of the plastic bed is limited only to general cleanliness and occasional use of silicone oil. The Monte Carlo-type symmetrical buttstock allows right- and left-handed shooters to comfortably assemble for shooting and use higher-mounted optics.
After-shot recoil is effectively absorbed thanks to the TrioPad system, which consists of a rubber foot and 3 interchangeable spacers of different thicknesses, which also allows you to adjust the length of the flask. Fine mottling was applied to the pistol grip and the front of the bed, which improves hand grip and enhances the aesthetic qualities of the carbine.
Classic loading
Thespring is tensioned by the classic "barrel break", a method most often used in spring-loaded windcheaters due to its convenient and simple operation. The Optima by Hatsan 125 STG Sport Vortex 4.5mm shoots diabolo shot in 4.5mm caliber, loaded directly into the barrel. The polymer dummy suppressor with non-slip milling significantly eases barrel breakage and spring tension, most noticeable during long shooting.
Vortex tunable gas spring
The carbine uses an advanced Vortex gas spring system, responsible for high operating culture, reduced recoil and improved accuracy. This system is based on a pneumatic cylinder that compresses the gas mixture in the cylinder instead of compressing the steel spring.
When the trigger is pressed, the compressed gas sets the piston in motion, which responds by compressing the air and firing the shotgun. This system ensures a stable initial velocity of the shotgun and a much longer life of the pneumatic system compared to the standard piston-spring system.
The effect most noticeable to the shooter, is less recoil and weight of the carbine, a reduction in vibration and the sound of firing, and less effort to pull the barrel. The biggest innovation of the Vortex system, however, is the possibility of smooth energy tuning. In the compression chamber there is a hole designed to adjust and increase the prevailing pressure (up to 150 Bar). This operation is done with a dedicated PCP pump. Such functionality makes Vortex gas spring windcheaters recommended for enthusiasts of tuning and modification of windcheaters.
Precision and long range
The 500mm threaded barrel is responsible for the accuracy and repeatability of the shots, thanks to which we can achieve repeatable focus already after a short training. The fired shotgun reaches a high initial velocity of about 290 m/s (~16 J), thanks to which we can also shoot accurately from the carbine at longer distances.
Automatic safety
In shooting, the most important thing is safety, so when the spring is pulled ("breaking the barrel"), the fuse is automatically activated, which prevents the firing of an uncontrolled shot. Before firing, you should always turn off the safety, which is conveniently located in the rear of the piston chamber. This affects the extremely easy unlocking of the carbine, which can be done even without interfering with the aiming process.
Fiber-optic sighting instruments
The carbine has been equipped with good quality fiber-optic targeting instruments, i.e. a fixed bow tie and a vertically and horizontally adjustable sights. The fiber-optic rods with contrasting (green-red) colors, significantly speed up the alignment of the bow tie and the pincer, and thanks to high light absorption, also allow shooting in low or residual light, for example, after dark. If you want to try your hand at shooting at longer distances, you can also mount an optical sight of your choice on the 11mm rail. The rail has holes for a stop pin, eliminating the problem associated with "loss of zero".
