Lansky LKNAT is a professional sharpening system, consisting of 3 natural arkansas stones of different gradations, a clamp and guides, allowing you to choose the right angle and maintain full control over the sharpening process.
Lansky sharpening systems, are widely recognized as one of the best and relatively cheapest professional sharpeners in the world.
Based on many years of experience, Lansky has created an extremely simple and efficient system that allows you to choose the sharpening angle depending on the type and purpose of the knife, fix the blade steadily and carry out the grinding in a very precise way with a constant angle.
Unlike the classic "sharpening by hand" that requires skill and experience, the system allows you to maintain proper control of the angle, so you can be sure that the sharpening will be carried out correctly.
The effect of such sharpening is easy to predict, the cutting edge is perfectly sharp and cuts much longer.
Ease of use, great efficiency and effectiveness of Lansa systems means that our knives can always be "razor sharp" without having to buy several different sharpeners.
Construction and operation
The system consists of a clamp, metal guides and grinding stones. The aluminum "T " shaped clamp is used to hold the knife firmly, which prevents it from moving during grinding.
After the knife is seated in the jaws of the clamp (with screws), we connect the guide to the grinding stone, then choose the angle that best suits the type and purpose of the knife.
Adjustment of the sharpening angle is done in a simple way- by placing the guide in the notches with predefined angles: 17°, 20°, 25° and 30°.
The clamp has a double-sided design, so in order to sharpen the other side of the blade, you simply turn the clamp and reposition the guide with the stone, without having to remove the knife.
Sharpening angles
The clamp has 4 sharpening angles designed for different types of knives:
- 17° - filleting knives, kitchen knives, precision cutting tools,
- 20° - kitchen knives, pocket knives, small edc folders,
- 25° - large edc. folders, hunting knives, outdoor knives,
- 30° - survival knives, heavy duty tools
Stones
The Lansky LKNAT set includes 3 natural arkansas stones for all major repair, sharpening and smoothing of the cutting edge.
Arkansas stone, which originated in North America, is characterized by very fine grains, high hardness and density, making it a valued raw material for knife whetstones.
Sharpening on Arkansas stone is slower and time-consuming, but the cutting edge is smoother and retains sharpness much longer.
Lansky Soft Stone S0300 with a gradation of 200-350 is used to repair the blade and bring out a new cutting edge.
Lansky Hard Stone Arkansas S0650 with a gradation of 650 is used for sharpening slightly dulled cutting edges, bringing working sharpness and pre-polishing the edge.
Lansky Black Hard Arkansas SOBHA with a gradation of 1200-1400 is used for final smoothing and polishing of the blade, allowing for the proverbial razor sharpness.
It also comes with Lansky Nathans Honing oil to enhance the quality and effect of sharpening. Stones coated with a few drops of oil during sharpening maintain proper moisture content, which prolongs their life and makes it easier to achieve professional sharpness.
For the set, it is additionally worth purchasing the Lansky Eraser Block LERAS cleaning block, which allows you to easily and quickly remove from the ceramic stones the tarnish of steel, deposited during sharpening.
If you want to increase the stability and comfort of sharpening, it is also worth considering the purchase of the LM010 vise, used to fix the system to a table or countertop.
Carrying the elements of the Lansky LKNAT set is made easier with a resealable polymer box.
