Construction
Stretch membranes are used on the sides and sleeves of the jacket, providing increased freedom of movement. Inside, there is a heat-reflective lining that prevents heat loss and enhances the effect of the heating membranes.
Heating membranes have been sewn into the back and lumbar areas, the parts of the body most sensitive to cold, which can be set to any temperature between 30°C and 52°C using a smartphone app . The membranes can also be set to 38°C, 46°C or 52° using a button on the chest, so you won't be dependent on your smartphone.
Unlike other technologies, Harkila's heating membranes are flexible enough to allow the jacket to be folded safely, without risking damage to the heating system. A pouch has been added to the jacket, in which you can stow the jacket and gain more space. Modern membranes also allow machine washing.
The right pocket of the jacket hides a waterproof USB port, to which you can connect any powerbank. The 10000 mAh device will allow the membranes to maintain a temperature of 52°C for 7 hours, when the outside temperature is 0°C. To save energy, the membranes will automatically go to sleep when the selected temperature is reached. The membranes will restart if the temperature inside the jacket drops by 1-2°C. Thus, the jacket allows you to maintain the optimal temperature even during increased physical exertion by responding to the increase in body heat.
The jacket features two side pockets and two interior pockets, including one specially adapted for a radio receiver. A high collar, lined with soft fleece, was also used for additional thermal comfort.
