Silky Gomboy Outback Edition 240-8 Folding Hand Saw

Product description

TheSilky Gomboy Outback Edition is a versatile outdoor saw that will be the perfect companion for any adventure thanks to its outstanding performance and lightweight design.

Silky Outback - the perfect saw for hunters and outdoorsmen

Outback is a new line of folding saws designed with outdoor and hunting applications in mind. The Outback series of saws have blades coated entirely with a black protective coating made from a mixture of nickel and tin. This unique coating increases blade life and provides incredible cutting performance, making Outback saws easily handle woodworking as well as bone sawing. The matte finish prevents glare, so Outback Silky saws can also be successfully used by soldiers. Another new element in the design of Outback saws is the handle material.
Since the saws are often used in cold and wet conditions, Arbor plastic was used for the handle. The laminate combines the characteristics of wood and polymer, so it remains pleasantly warm even at low temperatures, and its rough texture provides a comfortable grip and excellent control.
Work safety is ensured by a locking mechanism that allows the blade to be locked in two positions (unfolded/assembled).

Three times harder blade

The blade is made with precision laser technique from high-carbon steel resistant to wear and mechanical damage. The element that sets Silky blades apart from the market competition is a unique hardening process. The blade teeth are heated and hardened only at the edges (pulse hardening), so they remain sharp up to three times longer than non-hardened teeth.

Mirai Me serrations

Silky saw blades have a special Mirai Me tooth profile with 4 cutting angles. A blade with this design allows for smooth rip, cross and mitre cuts leaving a smooth surface every time. To make cutting more efficient and comfortable, the blade has a tapered cut (hourglass shape), which almost completely eliminates the phenomenon of wedging the saw in the material and provides exceptional lightness and smoothness regardless of the material.

Universal size

TheSilky Gomboy Outback Edition has a 240mm long blade with a wide serration (8 teeth per 30mm blade length), which is ideal for cutting fresh and dry wood and bone. The curved profile blade, unlike straight saws, speeds up cutting and increases productivity by up to 15-20%. The curved shape also prevents the saw from falling out of the cut and makes it easier to cut branches above our shoulders.

Arbor composite handle

Outdoor saws are used all year round, including in winter or in conditions with high humidity. That's why special Arbor composite material is used for the handle. The laminate combines the characteristics of wood and polymer, so it remains pleasantly warm even at low temperatures, and its rough texture provides a firm grip and good control of the saw. Work safety is ensured by a dorsal locking mechanism that secures the blade when unfolded and folded. The saw is folded in such a way that the sharp teeth are completely retracted in the handle. This allows it to be carried safely in a backpack or hunting bag. It comes with a case made of transparent polymer.

Technologies

Electro-pulse hardening

The tips of the teeth are heated to a very high temperature for a fraction of a second. Since only the tip (or otherwise the cutting part) of the tooth is heated, the rest of the tooth retains its cutting quality, but also its flexibility. Induction-hardened teeth have three times the life of untreated teeth. They cannot be sharpened and can be recognized by the black tips of the teeth.

Non-spaced teeth

The teeth are precision ground into the blade, each with 4 cutting surfaces. The teeth are "unspaced" so that the cutting surface cuts straight into the wood, destroying about 50% fewer wood cells. The blades are ground biconcave: the lower part of the blade (near the teeth) is thickest, the upper part is slightly thinner, and the blade is thinnest in the middle. This design has several advantages: Less power needed for sawing, discharges sawdust effortlessly (it won't get stuck in the wood), very clean saw cut - without breaking or tearing the wood, it creates a very accurate, smooth saw cut.

Mirai-Me teeth

The razor-sharp teeth are precision ground into the blade, each with 3 cutting edges and resulting in an extremely smooth surface. For optimum sawdust evacuation, every back tooth (depending on the saw model) is ground outward. This unrivaled, patented MIRAI-ME technology allows the saw to be used for 3 types of cutting: cross-cutting (perpendicular to the grain), rip-cutting (parallel to the grain direction) and mitering. During pruning work, a smooth saw cut will allow the tree wound to overgrow easily. In carpentry, smooth saw cutting provides an excellent finish, making sanding unnecessary.

Silky technology

The blades are made of Japanese Authentic Premium steel and laser-cut. The blades are of unparalleled quality: they are very hard and durable, but at the same time remain flexible thanks to a soft metal core. Hard and wear-resistant - The chemical composition of the metal combined with a unique heating and cooling process determines the high hardness of the metal. The high carbon content leads to high wear resistance, so the sharpness remains for a very long time. Soft and flexible - By forging the saws in such a way, the core of the saw tooth consists of soft metal, so that the saw remains flexible and easily grips the wood.
