The uppers of the boots are made of natural nubuck leather and secured with a wide rubber collar (around the boot) to protect the feet during hunting and trekking in difficult terrain. The boots have 6" (15 cm) high uppers, a stiffened ankle, a comfortable insole and reinforced soles with extra cushioning in the middle, which increases comfort and reduces foot fatigue during prolonged walking. The specialized Vibram sole with a non-slip protector makes it easier to move on slippery and uneven surfaces. The shoes also have a shock-absorbing midsole, which ensures long-distance walking comfort even on very uneven ground. Despite the sturdy leather upper and massive sole, the shoes are relatively lightweight, with one shoe weighing just 580 grams (weight for size 38).

The Härkila Saxnäs GTX Mid uses Sierra's waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane to keep feet dry even in heavy rain or marching through snow.
