TheGerber Slimsada is a well-designed edc folder, featuring a D2 tool steel bearing head, a monolithic frame-lock, and a stylish micarta and steel handle.
The blade is made of tough and durable D2 tool steel hardened to 58-60 HRC. D2 is a carbon steel with superior corrosion resistance that cuts extremely aggressively, has excellent retention (ability to hold sharpness) and is highly resistant to wear and damage. D2 is a great alternative to expensive premium steels because it has great cutting properties, is hard and highly resistant to abrasion. Sharpening it requires a lot of work and a suitable sharpener (preferably diamond), but this is compensated by long edge retention and less frequent sharpening.

The 88mm long drop-point blade is finished with a stonewashed technique, which perfectly masks the fine scratches created by using the knife. The knife penetrates easily and cuts smoothly, thanks to its strong hilt, high flat grind and a cutting edge with a gently rounded line. When unfolded, the knife is 204 mm long, the thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3.5 mm, which is a compromise between carrying comfort, functionality and durability against damage.
On the axis of the head are installed B.O.S.S Tech ball bearings set on aluminum races, thanks to which the blade opens smoothly and dynamically. The ball-bearing head, combined with the milled fin, makes the daily use of the knife a pure pleasure. The Gerber Slimsada knife has another hidden advantage, it is, of course, the "clickiness", that is, the joy resulting from the smooth and dynamic way of unfolding the blade, clearly confirmed by the click of the lock. With the help of a hole in the blade, the blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with the thumb or the fashionable Spydie Flick technique (with the index finger).
The frame-lock with a decorative micarta overlay effectively protects the blade from accidental folding, which guarantees reliability and safe operation. The frame-lock is considered one of the most durable locking mechanisms, characterized by dirt resistance and comfortable operation. The handle of the knife is formed by stainless steel and micarta facings. The thermoset fiberglass and canvas laminate features high mechanical strength, resistance to moisture, temperature and most solvents and acids.
The minimalist facings have a rough texture that improves the knife's grip. The rigidity and strength of the construction is provided by a steel liner supported by aluminum spacer sleeves. The profiled shape of the tang, the undercut for fingers and the fine texturing of the plastic make the knife fit tightly in the hand, without slipping and sliding while working. Convenient carrying of the knife in the pocket is made possible by a spring clip (one-sided).
