TheBenchmade 940 Osborne is a popular edc knife that features a blade made of highly regarded CPM-30V powder steel and contoured anodized aluminum liners.
The 940 designed by Warren Osborne is undoubtedly one of the most famous knives in the world. It owes its success to its lightweight and functional design and the use of high-quality materials that guarantee reliable and satisfying performance.
Premium steel
Theknife has a satin-finished 86mm long head, made of American CPM-S30V stainless steel.
Crucible Industries' S30V powder steel is hardened to an optimal hardness of 58-60 HRC, so it maintains a high sharpness for a long time, has high mechanical strength, and is also resistant to corrosion.
Thanks to its high vanadium carbide content, the steel is distinguished by its high impact and wear resistance, as well as its excellent cutting properties. The blade is coated with a layer of black Teflon, which protects the blade from minor scratches.
When choosing a hard steel knife, get a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
Utility head
Thewide blade, with a tactical reverse-tanto profile, has a matte satin finish (polishing) that harmonizes perfectly with the titanium facings. Thanks to the use of a sturdy hilt, a flat grind and a cutting edge with a gently rounded line, the knife penetrates easily and has excellent cutting properties.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Convenient unfolding
The blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with one hand using a double-sided peg, which is convenient for both right- and left-handed people.
Reliable locking mechanism
Benchmade's flagship mechanism, the double-sided Axis-lock, which is valued for its immense mechanical strength, dirt resistance and convenient operation for both right- and left-handed users, is responsible for safe operation.
Modern materials
The knife has liners made of anodized 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum, which are attached to steel liners, responsible for the rigidity and strength of the construction.
One of the main advantages of aluminum, in addition to its strength and ability to be finely machined, is its light weight, which inevitably comes with the comfort of carrying and using the knife.
The profiled handle is wider at the base, which makes the knife's grip comfortable and the hand won't slip on the blade while working.
This model uses blue anodized spacers, which contrasts strikingly with the knife's dark color scheme and undoubtedly attracts the attention of any knife enthusiast.
Convertible clip
Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by a standard embedded clip , which can be mounted on either side of the handle.
