TheFirebird FH91-BK is a mid-size edc folder, equipped with a D2 steel bearing head, proven liner-lock and contoured G10 laminate liners.
The knife features a utilitarian design and solutions and materials rarely found in products in this price range.
Hard D2 tool steel
The blade is made of hard and durable D2 tool steel hardened to 60 HRC. D2 is the most corrosion-resistant carbon steel, which features high wear resistance, long retention of working sharpness and high cutting aggressiveness. Thanks to alloying additives such as chromium and nickel, among others, the D2 steel blade is not susceptible to corrosion, so the knife can be used for any form of outdoor activity. When choosing a knife made of highly hardened steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
Excellent cutting properties
The 88mm long drop-point blade is finished using a satin (polished) method. The matte blade is easier to clean and does not reflect light. Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, a flat grind and a cutting edge with a gently rounded line, the knife penetrates easily and has excellent cutting properties. Transverse cutters have been made on the back of the ridge, allowing a stable finger rest while working. When unfolded, the knife is 203 mm long, the thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3.5 mm, which is an excellent compromise between carrying comfort, everyday functionality and durability.
Ball-bearing head
The blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with one hand using a flipper (flipper), which is convenient for both right and left-handed people. There are also bearings on the axis of the bolt, thanks to which the blade unfolds easily and smoothly.
Safe to use
The knife uses a classic liner-lock. When the blade is unfolded, the role of the lock is played by a spring-loaded liner that rests against the back of the blade, thus preventing it from folding. Liner-lock is prized for its simplicity, reliability and heavy-duty durability.
Comfortable handle with clip on both sides
The handle of the knife is formed by G-10 plastic facings. The glass-epoxy laminate used is characterized by light weight, high mechanical strength, resistance to water, temperature change, as well as many acids and solvents.
G10 is easy to care for, and thanks to its slightly rough texture, even a wet knife won't slip out of your hand during use. The contoured shape of the grip, the finger undercut and the tapered top of the handle make the knife fit securely in the hand and comfortable to use. Discreetly carrying the knife in a pocket is made possible by a high-set clip with mounting options on both sides of the handle.
