TheColt SAA .45 antique 4.5mm BB CO2 is a superbly crafted air rifle that is a faithful replica of the legendary Colt SAA, a revolver that changed the face of the Wild West.
Metal construction
The revolver has a heavy construction made almost entirely (except for the handle linings) of heavy alloy and steel. Such construction ensures reliable use and affects the revolver's perceptible weight of more than 860 grams.
The revolveruses a 5.5-inch barrel, thanks to which we can shoot accurately from the revolver even at longer distances after a short training.
TheColt SAA .45 antique 4.5 mm BB CO2 uses fixed-set mechanical sighting instruments.
The classic character of the revolver is perfectly emphasized by the stylish aged finish and polymer handle facings, which are deceptively reminiscent of wood. As in firearms, the revolver's grip has an optimal angle, which contributes to the comfort and natural grip of the windcheater.
All mechanisms, i.e. the trigger, barrel, cock and charging port flap, are perfectly fitted and feature high operating culture.
Rotating barrel loaded with shells
The revolver has a very realistic charging system, perfectly imitating the mechanism of a real Colt SA, consisting of a rotating barrel and brass dummy cartridges in which we place the shot. The drum's charging port is secured by a tilting flap identical to the original.
After placing the BB's in the shells, all you have to do is load them into the drum, after closing the charging port the windgun is ready to shoot. The shells are reusable, but for added convenience it is worth getting an extra set, which greatly speeds up the loading and the level of fun.
BB's shot is designed for recreational shooting at reactive targets, cans, bottles, etc. Unlike lead shot, BB's do not deform even under pressure, so they can be safely loaded into shells.
CO2 power supply
The revolver is powered by compressed carbon dioxide supplied from a 12gCO2 capsule. The fired shot reaches a high initial velocity of about 120 m/s, which allows accurate shooting at distances of up to 20 m.
Loading and replacing theCO2 capsule is very simple, simply push back the polymer grip liner, place the capsule in the port and tighten it with an allen wrench.
The mounting wrench is permanently attached to the liner, so it is always with the windcheater, thus avoiding the mundane problem of forgetting the tool needed to replace the capsule.
Single Action trigger mechanism
The revolver uses the classic SA (single action) trigger mechanism, which means that firing a shot requires manual tensioning of the cock each time, identical to what happened in the Western Colt.
Despite such functionality, the revolver has a high rate of fire, which depends solely on the skill and training of the shooter. When transporting or carrying, the trigger mechanism can be locked by means of an adjustable fuse located in the lower part of the frame.
In 1872, the Colt Patent Firearms Company developed the Peacemaker revolver, which was introduced the following year under the Single Action Army designation into the armament of the US Army. The Colt SAA was also an impressive commercial success.
